Outstanding job applications - 10; Total job rejections - 5; Interviews conducted - 1; New grey hairs - 8,039
Outstanding job applications reached ten yesterday evening, but was reduced nine early this afternoon - the technical library assistant post at the oil & gas company, after much deliberation, was offered to someone with considerable less experience than I have. Which must be very little as I have only two years' previous in the sector myself....
I was given plenty of indication that the role was not too junior for me by the agency, despite my concerns about this - in fact, they gave every indication that I would be the right person. The company had been looking for a few months for a suitable person, I had the right skills, etc. so I am a little perturbed by this. Perhaps an economic decision to get someone in a bit cheaper, perhaps?
I found three jobs on another general jobs website that I hadn't used before, so fired off CVs and covering letters. I have spent considerable time on the web and looking in the local & national press for suitable vacancies but seem to find the same handful advertised in the same places. I also have to take umbrage a little with BIALL, whose Jobs board has hyperlinks by recruitment agency so you often get two new links offering the same jobs via different agencies - bloody frustrating....
Luckily, the adverse weather conditions in my area meant that I was not obliged to visit the Job Centre to sign on this week. This did mean that I had to spend most of this morning chasing up my Job Seekers Allowance payment because, as I had not signed on, they had not processed my payment (as they said they should have)....
I will keep you informed as to the latest job facts and figures as they change.... Deep joy....
